My New Blog

I know. The title sounds scary. At least to me, it does. I've had this blog since November 5, 2016. THREE YEARS.  But after hours of trying to understand this website, I decided to try a different one.  wordpress.com  is a popular website to many of my fellow friends on Story Embers (a writing website). If so many people like it, then maybe I should give it a try. So three days ago I created an account on WordPress and made a whole new blog. It's also called Alabama, until I come up with a more creative name. 😝  So from now on I will be publishing posts on  alabamasblog.home.blog  which is now my current blog.  It's nice to start fresh, and so far it hasn't been as much of a headache like this one (besides learning how to locate things. But that's normal for something new).  So if you're still interested in the things I have to stay after all this... then please have fun following me on my new blog!  (Although I will give you a fair w...

I don't mean to complain, but....

IT IS FR-EE-ZING. Photo taken from Derek Yutzy's timeline on Facebook We have about a fifty-five percent chance that our car will start. And even if it does, you may not even make it up the hill to your house. Ohh, the joys of living in the boreal forest. Up North. With all season tires . Not the greatest idea. Luckily we bought a new car and all, and it works better than our old one, but it still doesn't have winter tires.  But we are surviving this cold!  Although I am disappointed I haven't been able to play hockey since Christmas.  Ok, I do have a point to this post. I promise I won't just rant about the cold.  Tomorrow I'm turning fifteen.  Hurrah... not so much.  I mean, I like being fourteen. It's a comfort zone thing. (Not to mention it's an even number, and thirteen and fifteen sound strange... I know. The way my brain works is odd.) Anyhow, I'm not super pumped to turn fifteen. I'm not dreading it, s...

Three Awesome Books

Image
Anyone feel up for a book review? I haven't written one before, but I figured I'd give it a shot. I was sitting at my desk trying to decide what I should post about when I remembered how some people do book reviews. But of course, I couldn't decide which book. I mean, there are millions   of books out there that I've read, and I had to pick one?!   I did eventually decide on one but then I changed my mind. Then I picked another.  Then I changed my mind. (indecisive, aren't we?) So then I decided to pick three books and give a short review on each, then pick my   favourite . Like a book contest... If that even exists ... *shrugs* So, the three contestants are........ A Murder for Her Majesty  by Beth Hilgartner Number the Stars  by Lois Lowry and  Our Only May Amelia  by Jennifer L. Holm I will start off by saying that this will be a hard decision for me. I picked three that I love... so at this ...

Random Update

I Just Wanted to Say... ...Hello to all my beloved blog readers, who put up with all my strange rough-draft stories and are hugely appreciated!! 😜 I figured I would give an update of what I'm up to, since I haven't done that yet. So, here goes.... My Life in General Christmas holidays!! 🌲 *cheers wildly* We are on Christmas Vacation, visiting friends and family all over. We picked up my sister Tia from YWAM a couple days ago. It's been so nice seeing her after being apart from her for three months! We are now headed to Pennsylvania for Christmas day to visit family.  My brother broke his leg a couple weeks ago so that changed the trip quite a bit, but he's doing better and getting around well on his crutches... poor boy. At thirteen, he doesn't really enjoy being so dependent on everyone, but he's learning.  Also, I got to see Niagara Falls!! We stopped there for the night and it was so beautiful with all the water lit up.  ...

The Superior Sea

As we were travelling around Lake Superior to pick up my sister I was able to think of a story idea... don't judge me, I know the story is stupid. 😝 But I do have a moral, and I hope you can decipher it. Look for that small easter egg... even though it's not Easter... P.S The characters are fictional.😝 I promise.  This improv trip was a mistake.   Driving around Lake Superior around Christmastime wasn’t such a bad idea. But driving around Lake Superior at Christmastime with your whole family packed into the back of the van… could very well be a bad idea.   Mom thought it’d be fun and educational to see all the old sights and the history of the old place. Dad wanted to come because he wanted to see the view.   Me? I didn’t want to come at all. The only reason I’m here is that I wasn’t allowed to stay home alone. But I wouldn’t be alone; I’d have my cat. But anyways, my brother and two sisters are packed in this minivan with me… as if they are any co...

Miracle Worker

I knew He was near. His Presence followed him, encompassed Him, and I knew the Messiah was coming my way. My old, sightless eyes stared out into the busy city, seeing only the depth of blackness; all I had ever known. It was said the Messiah could perform miracles, although I'd only heard that from a fellow beggar, who'd heard it from a prostitute. No telling where she'd heard it from. But it was my only hope. "Lord," My voice was hoarse and scratchy. "Restore my sight." My prayer was a desperate one. Who'd ever heard of a blind man seeing again? Yet I'd never seen at all. But if all I'd heard was true, the Messiah was able. When the noises in the city grew louder, I knew He was approaching. More voices, more activity, the crowd of followers was rounding the bend. I waited in ancient anticipation; my hope renewed. Soon they'd be in the damp, dark alley in which I sat. Where I'd sat for as long as I could remember. What reaso...
