Ranger's Apprentice

My friend once told me of a series of books that was a must read for me. She went on and on about how great these people called 'Rangers' were and how they shoot bows and protect the kingdom and all that.
Of course, I just thought, "Yeah, whatever." I wasn't very interested in it, and thought it sounded dumb. But she never gave up and continued to insist that I read these books called 'Ranger's Apprentice'.
One day my brother and I were just browsing through books in the library, looking for something interesting to read.
I happened to see an eye-catching book that immediately looked suspenseful and mysterious. My interest instantly aroused, I grabbed it and read the cover. Ranger's Apprentice.
I scanned the back, and knew I just had to read this book! Adventure! Intrigue! Romance! Hand-to-Hand Combat! Now that's something!- I thought.
Well it turned out I couldn't put that thing down. It would be time to eat supper, but I'd be trying to read as much as I could while they waited for me. I had chores that had to be done, but I'd be hiding in my room in a land far, far away.
Eventually(after twelve books), I finished the series and enjoyed it whole--heartedly.
I really love to draw, so one night I was sitting on the couch trying to decide what to draw. I decided a Ranger would be fun. So I researched, "How to Draw A Ranger," But there was nothing. So then I did, "How to Draw A Cloaked Man," (Ranger's wear cloaks).
I found a good picture and began to draw it and a man began to emerge from my paper. I was so excited to see it turn out, and when it was finished I was proud of it. I'd managed to draw a Ranger, and it didn't look so terrible!
Then, a couple weeks after I drew the Ranger, my friend(The same one who encouraged me to read those books) had her birthday.
Well, I knew I had to do something special for her, something really personal--not just a store bought gift.
Then my Dad gave me the idea to make her a poster... a ranger poster.
I had no idea where to start, but Mom helped me along quite a bit, and with her help I was able to draw this:

My Ranger Poster
This is just on a piece of paper, but Mom knows a guy who is willing to make a print for me, and then it will look like a real poster!
My friend has not received the poster yet, but I can hardly wait to give it to her.

(P.s If anyone is interested in reading this series, check your library or you can get them on Amazon. The first book is called 'The Ruins of Gorlan'.)
